STEM Trek 2018
Girls in Technology's third annual end-of-year celebration, STEM Trek, gave 60 middle and high school girls hands-on STEAM opportunity. Celebrating our Edge of Yesterday-inspired theme, "Inventing the Future," participating girls from throughout Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C., engaged in a full afternoon of activities at the University of Maryland School. Girls had the opportunity to learn to code, to test out virtual reality, to make their own 3-D printed designs, get a full professional makeover to dress-up for STEM Success. A special highlight of the day was a conversation and live Q&A with Olympic biathlete and STEM academic, Joanne Reid. All the participants received autographed copies of Edge of Yesterday.
Special thanks to Girls in Technology and supporting partners at STEM for Her, Women in Technology, University of Maryland School of Computer Science and Women of AT&T for making it all possible.
